TOURNAMENT
FAQ's
6 Teams Division
Q1.
Why can't the teams in game 6 play in game 7?
Answer: The OSA tournament
rules require 1 hour between each game played for a team. As
both teams in game 6 are from the same initial group, the third
team in the group has to be playing in game 7 as the two other
teams cannot play successive games.
Q2. Which teams will
play in game 7?
Answer: One team will be
pre-determined to play in game 7. Their opponent will be the
team from the other group that ends in the same position in
the standings as the pre-determined team. If the pre-determined
team ends as number 3 in their group, game 7 will be the 5th
place game; if number 2, the Bronze Final; if number 1, the
Final.
Q3. Why don't you arrange
semi-finals and finals?
Answer: Our main goal with
this tournament was to create a good place for outdoor season
preparations. We also wanted to give all teams equal opportunity
to get as much field time as possible (thus the 2*20min halfs).
This has been achieved in that all teams will get the exact
amount of field time no matter if they go to the actual final
or not (all* teams play one playoff game to determine the ranking
in the tournament). *Except divisions with a 4 or 5 team format.
Q4. Wouldn't it have
been better to expand the divisions to 8 teams and play a regular
playoff format between the teams that move on?
Answer: This would have
meant the playing time in each game would have to be reduced
to avoid breaking the daily limit of total play per team. Some
teams would then only have received 75 minutes field time with
the teams advancing getting more. We wanted this tournament
to be an alternative where all teams got maximum out of their
preparations for the outdoor season. Since you can play with
regular cleats on our turf, we decided that giving all teams
equal playing time would give best value for everybody's money.
