DISC & Soccer Schools

Spring Clinics 2010

Please read this page in full before contacting DISC with questions about the program.

"In Fall 2009, DISC introduced a new format for its Arsenal Soccer Schools where younger players played two sessions per week instead of just one. Half the time was spent with a professional coach developing technical skills and the other half in small sided games. The improvement I saw in the playing level of those young players using this new format was even greater than I had anticipated. For Winter 2010, I am changing the format of DISC's program by reducing the maximum number of players in each class and by offering players the opportunity to play either or both sessions each week. I am confident that these changes will open the program to even more players and further enhance the players’ learning environment. " John Lay, President, Durham Indoor Soccer Centre

DISC is excited to announce some enhancements to it’s Spring 2010 Soccer development program. The 10 week program runs from early April to the mid June with time split evenly between learning skills with professional coaches and playing small sided games. Classes are scheduled twice a week and players may choose to play either weekend only, midweek only or both classes. The emphasis will be on teaching player’s correct technique and exposing them to as many touches of the ball as possible. All games are played on DISC's FIFA approved indoor turf field.

Children will be separated by gender and year of birth. All classes comprise of a 20-25 minute individual skills development clinic with a qualified coach followed by a 25 minute small sided game.

Children born between 2002 and 2005 will play on a 101*60 foot field with a maximum of 16 players per group and 5-a-side games. Youth born between 1998 and 2001 will play on a 101 * 123 foot field with a maximum of 22 players per group and 6-a-side games. All groups will have one class on the weekend and one on a weekday evening according to the schedule in the table below. Players may choose to attend either or both of the classes each week.

Further information and details on registering for the programme can be found below the playing schedule table.

Please note classes are 50 minutes each played within the above time windows

Teams will play 5 players on the field at any time for 25 minute games. Skills sessions will take place immediately before games for 20-25 minutes. Player to coach ratio will be a maximum of 20 players per coach.

Players born between 2001 and 1998 will practice and play on a 124*101 ft field. There wil be a maximum of twelve players per team.  Each session will be fifty minutes in length with 25 minutes of professional coaching followed by a 25 minute 6-a-side game. The maximum number of players per coach will be 22.

PLAYING WITH A BUDDY
Up to 3 individuals may request to play in the same group. These registrations must arrive together and must clearly indicate the request at the TOP of the registration forms.  Please note it may not be possible to accommodate last minute buddy requests especially where the request is made after rosters and schedules have been finalised.  It may also not be possible to accommodate a buddy request where to do so would in the convenor's opinion unfairly increase the strength of a particular team.

ROSTERS & SCHEDULES
Schedules will be published on the website and e-mailed to the e-mail address on the registration form 10 days before the first game and will be available in hard copy at DISC from your first game. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A PHONE CALL FROM A COACH. If you have not received information regarding the start of the program by 7 days before the start date, please e-mail
durhamindoorsoccer@rogers.com and include in the e-mail the player name, gender and year of birth. The schedules will give the child's first name and the first two/three letters of their last name (to protect your child's privacy) plus all game times for the full Fall session.

If you do not have access to the internet, please attach a stamped, self addressed envelope to your registration and DISC will mail a hard copy of the roster and schedule to you.

DISC reserves the right, at any stage of the season, to move players across groups if, in the convenor's opinion any teams are inordinately under or over strength compared with other teams in their age group.

UNIFORM & FOOTWEAR

In order to keep costs to a minimum, Shorts and socks are not included in the registration fee for the Spring Clinics. Players are required to wear plain black shorts and socks and DISC supplied shirts at all practices and games. Black shorts and socks are available for purchase from DISC.

In an effort to re-cycle uniforms, DISC re-uses uniforms that have been returned from previous programs. Only uniforms in good condition are re-cycled.  Players have the option of ordering a brand new shirt as opposed to a re-cycled one. Players requiring a brand new shirt should tick the appropriate box on the registration form and add $15 to their registration fee.

Players should arrive 30 minutes before their first game to pick up their uniform and have time to change before kick off.  Players may wear Soft Soled Running shoes or (clean) regular multi-stud outdoor cleats (no screw in studs).  Shinguards are MANDATORY.  No player will be permitted to play without them. Players are requested to return their uniforms at the end of the season.

Family Discounts
Where three or more players of an immediate family (parents and non-adult siblings) all register for a session at DISC, the third and subsequent players shall receive a 10% discount.

Refund Policy & NSF Fees
Cancellations made more than 30 days before session start are subject to a $25 administration fee. There are no refunds after this date, unless cancellation is on medical grounds supported by a Doctor's note in which case a pro-rated refund less $25 admin fee will be made.

In the event of an NSF cheque, DISC will charge a $25 fee. This fee is charged to cover DISC's banking and administrative costs.
